Golf on Gower Golf Breaks - Dragon Hotel or Winston Hotel, Gower, South Wales

Golf on Gower is a group of quality clubs and hotels in a compact cluster offering golf breaks in Britain’s first “Area of Outstanding natural beauty”. Its no surprise that dramatic views over coast and rural landscape are in abundance with a mix of Links, heath and parkland courses within just a few miles of each other. All offer challenging Par 71 /72 courses and measure over 6000 yds.

Accommodation included is based in either the 4 star city centre ‘Dragon Hotel’ with all its added attractions and just a short drive to all the golf courses or the Winston Hotel, located in the heart of Gower and just 4 miles from the most distant venue. Both offer leisure facilities and the highest levels of service.

Dragon Hotel

Located in the heart of Swansea’s vibrant city centre, The Dragon Hotel has recently undergone a £3.6 million refurbishment. The hotel is very lively with an award wining Brasserie restaurant, an excellent bar and a wide
range of leisure facilities including a gymnasium and 18m heated swimming pool.

The Winston Hotel

Situated in the Bishopston valley on the famous Gower peninsular, Britain’s first area of outstanding natural  beauty, the hotel is within a mile of spectacular walks and within two miles of sandy beaches.

18 Holes at Fairwood Golf Course

At 6,700 yards Fairwood Park is the longest and fl attest golf course on Gower and is also the only club in the Swansea area to have hosted Welsh PGA Championship events. There’s a bewildering array of trees that line this rolling Par 73 course, continually lying in wait to punish the wayward tee shot, not forgetting a plethora of lakes and strategically placed bunkers. Buggy hire is available at this Hawtree designed course, which was founded in 1969.

18 Holes at Clyne Golf Course

The course consists of two separate loops of 9 holes - virtually a figure of 8 - with the result that there is no crossing and a minimum of congestion. The course offers a challenging test of golf to all handicap levels and stands at 6,323 yards with a par 70/sss 72, offering wonderful views over Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel. The course was designed by Messrs H.S.Colt & Harries, and the club was founded in 1921

18 Holes at Pennard Golf Course

Golf has been played at Pennard since 1896, although today’s Par 71 / 6,225 yard course owes most of its appeal first to James Braid and then to C.K. Cotton. The holes are routed over classically undulating and tumbling linksland, full of hummocks, hillocks, and hollows, and pocked with dunes large and small. The course is often referred to as ‘The Links in the Sky’, as it lies 200 feet high above the shore.

18 Holes at Gower Golf Course

The Gower Golf Club was designed by the highly respected Donald Steel, whose 18 hole layout threads its way through rolling terrain to create a spectacular challenge offering dramatic vistas from several vantage points that look out over the SouthWales landscape. Opened in 1997 the Par71 course stands at 6441yds and has swiftly
established itself among the golfi ng elite in the area.

Testimonials.

Thank you for organising our golfing holiday on the Gower Peninsula. All three courses were excellent, the Dragon hotel in Swansea was very good value and everything went smoothly. We certainly felt it was well worth booking the holiday through The Wales Golf Holiday Company and we look forward to returning next year.
